More free agents the Chicago Bulls could sign for next week: Justin Jackson

Given the players that the Bulls are missing right now due to the health and safety protocol, I actually think the free agent that could make the most sense to reach out to first is the former Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Justin Jackson. Spending last season between the Bucks and the Thunder, Jackson is definitely one of the more appealing free agents available at the moment.

Jackson was signed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Mavericks ahead of the start of this regular season. But he would be waived before the regular season tipped off.

There was a point in time where the Bulls could look at Jackson as a potential solution to wing depth issues on the bench. But things have greatly changed since the times where Jim Boylen was the Bulls’ head coach and Jackson was a key part of the Dallas Mavericks rotation under new Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle.

Jackson could still be a serviceable two-way wing/forward for the Bulls, though. There are a lot of things that Jackson does pretty well, but nothing that he really does great. He’s a pretty good on-ball defender that is also very switchable. Jackson very rarely gets caught sleeping off-ball on defense, and he moves well off-ball on the offensive end too.

Next. 3 free agents the Bulls should've signed instead of Alfonzo McKinnie. dark

All in all, Jackson can do some of the things that the Bulls find valuable from the likes of DJJ, TBJ, and shooting guard/wing Matt Thomas. The Bulls know what they’re getting out of Jackson and I believe that he could make a lot of sense to help this team fill short-term depth needs.
