More free agents the Chicago Bulls could sign for next week: Kris Dunn

It would be really interesting to see the Bulls bring back someone like the former Providence Friars point guard and lottery draft pick, Kris Dunn, in the midst of this depth crisis on the team. Dunn was, at one point in time, considered to be the Bulls’ future at the point guard position.

The Bulls brought Dunn in from the Minnesota Timberwolves in that famed trade back in 2017 that saw star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler leave Chicago. The Bulls brought in Dunn, star shooting guard Zach LaVine, and power forward Lauri Markkanen when they shipped off Butler to the Timberwolves back during the 2017 offseason.

Yet, Dunn never found traction with one team on a consistent basis from that point forward. Granted, he never really found traction with the Timberwolves early in his career either.

Dunn really hasn’t done much since his run with the Bulls ended two seasons ago. He was signed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks last season but only played in four games due to a knee injury. Dunn only averaged 1.3 points per game, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists, in those four games played with the Hawks last season.

Moreover, the Hawks parted ways with Dunn at the conclusion of last season. The Memphis Grizzlies did sign Dunn to a non-guaranteed deal during Training Camp and the preseason. But he would be waived before the regular season tipped off.

Dunn could be a nice defensive boost that is also a threat to get to the rim while the Bulls are so short on depth. Adding Dunn could also let fellow defensive standout point guard Alex Caruso work his way back into the rotation without logging too many minutes while he comes back from a hamstring injury.

I wouldn’t mind this addition if it was on a 10-day contract.
