More free agents the Chicago Bulls could sign for next week: Dwayne Bacon
Speaking of free agents that the Bulls could go out and get right now that could be a true scoring spark when this team needs it the most, someone to potentially watch to sign soon could be the former Charlotte Hornets and Magic shooting guard Dwayne Bacon. The former Florida State Seminoles star and second-round draft pick still has some untapped potential left.
There was never really a point where Bacon found traction with either the Hornets or Magic early in his NBA career. But it also seemed like he never really found himself in an ideal situation to develop his game on both ends of the floor. It could be a big opportunity for Bacon to come to Chicago with a team that is a true postseason contender in the Eastern Conference.
Granted, this situation hypothetically presented to Bacon would be one where he would have to prove himself with a very shorthanded Bulls team.
Bacon could bring a scoring spark to the Bulls at a time when it is much needed. He could also fill some depth at the two-guard/on the wing in a spot where the team is really lacking right now. This might be the spot in the rotation where the Bulls are left the thinnest amid all these absences due to the health and safety protocol.
In the last three seasons, Bacon has more than 15 games with at least 20 points. He’s a threat to go off at any time. Bacon is a very capable shot creator and playmaker. He’s not a great defender and doesn’t always have the smartest shot selection. But the Bulls can’t realistically be hoping for a perfect scorer out of free agency to bolster the bench right now.
