Free agents the Chicago Bulls should’ve signed instead of Alfonzo McKinnie: Quinn Cook

A player I’ve advocated for of late to get picked up by the Bulls is the former Cavs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors 28-year-old sharpshooting guard Quinn Cook. The two-time NBA Champion has the type of offensive presence that could be valuable for the Bulls right now.

With the likes of Coby, Thomas, and Green out, the Bulls could use the boost in floor spacing and backcourt depth too. Especially with Caruso hampered by a hamstring injury of late, having someone that can be an effective off-ball mover and floor spacer like Cook could be really helpful in the Bulls backcourt unit.

Cook is one of the better shooters that the Bulls could go out and sign right now. He’s also a scoring spark plug that can help the Bulls salvage some type of shot creation and floor spacing while many of their key guards in the rotation are missing.

There’s no guarantee that a player like Cook would work out over the long haul with the Bulls under Donovan. But that’s not the point of this list. Cook would be able to plug some holes that the Bulls have right now if this team signed him to a 10-day contract.

At a problematic time for this Bulls team, bringing in a calming veteran voice in the locker room that went through a lot of turmoil himself like Cook could be a great move. Cook would be a nice second unit player right now. But this is something that would now be a great move in hindsight.
