3 free agents the Bulls should’ve signed instead of Alfonzo McKinnie
At this point of the regular season, it’s clear that second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls need help in the short term. Donovan and the Bulls are extremely short-handed this week following an incredibly large outbreak within the team of COVID-19 cases. And it just seems to keep getting worse for Donovan and the Bulls this week.
The list of absences among Bulls players that are now in the league’s health and safety protocol is very long. And it looks like that could be a detriment for the Bulls for at least the next few games. This list at this point for the Bulls players in the league’s health and safety protocol is pretty incredible.
The list of the players missing for the Bulls at this point due to the league’s health and safety protocol now encompasses star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan, forward Derrick Jones Jr., shooting guard/wing Matt Thomas, point guard Coby White, and shooting guard/forward Javonte Green.
Who the Chicago Bulls could’ve considered in free agency instead of Alfonzo McKinnie
That doesn’t even include the list of Bulls players that are dealing with other injuries at the moment. The Bulls were still missing the likes of point guard Alex Caruso and second-year forward Patrick Williams as of the Dec. 9 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.
Yet, Williams is likely out for the rest of the regular season with a wrist injury.
In the aftermath of all of these players in the league’s health and safety protocol for the Bulls, the team did receive a hardship exemption. This allowed the Bulls to go out and sign the likes of forward Alfonzo McKinnie and wing Stanley Johnson to 10-day contracts.
But it does look like there were some better options out there for the Bulls to sign right now.
Here’s a look into three players that the Bulls could’ve signed instead of McKinnie and even Johnson.
