The dud from Chicago Bulls’ trying win over the Hornets: Coby White

Was this the worst performance ever from the third-year former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White that the Bulls will see?

Absolutely not.

I want to mention before getting into the negative with White in this game that there were instances where he helped to spark the Bulls on offense at key times. He hit a big three-pointer off the bench in the second half to help the Bulls get rolling in the third quarter. That was definitely a big shot at an opportune time for the Bulls.

Now, there are definitely some negatives from the play of White in this win over the Hornets. He finished up this game with a team-low -11.2 box plus/minus and a true shooting percentage of just .457.

White registered eight points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. To go along with his eight points, White also registered three rebounds, no assists, no steals, no blocks, and no turnovers.

There were encouraging signs from White in this game. He didn’t turn the ball over, got to the free-throw line effectively, rebounded the ball pretty well, and wasn’t too much of a defensive liability. It will be a process for the Bulls to continually work White back into this rotation that will probably take at least another couple of weeks.
