Free agents on Chicago Bulls Black Friday shopping list: James Ennis III
A late free agent target that was apparent for executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley was the former Magic and Philadelphia 76ers wing James Ennis III. The 6-foot-6 and 215-pound 31-year-old shooting guard/small forward could still contribute some value for the Bulls at this point of the season.
The Bulls have struggled at times this season with their outside shooting and wing/forward scoring off the bench. Adding someone like Ennis to the mix that shot better than 43 percent from beyond the arc last season and averaged around 13 points per 36 minutes could be a nice fit with this bench.
The nice parting about adding Ennis too would be that Donovan and the Bulls know they’re getting a proven and reliable shooter/scorer that is also at least a decent defender. Ennis was never really an outstanding defender, but he’s got active hands and enough length and athleticism to defend most reserve guards and/or wings in the NBA.
Overall, Ennis would be one of the better wings that the Bulls could add via free agency at this point of the regular season. He really does nothing but good things on the offensive end of the floor. He rarely turns the ball over, gets to the free-throw line often, and is an efficient and smart shooter from pretty much every spot on the floor.
All of that is highlighted by a turnover percentage around 11 last season and a free-throw attempt rate at .386.
