Studs that Chicago Bulls fans should be thankful for: Zach LaVine

DeRozan was not the only Bulls star that made it into the top 10 in the latest Kia MVP Ladder. First-time All-Star shooting guard Zach LaVine also cracked the top 10 in the MVP Ladder for the first time this season this past week.

Bulls fans shouldn’t just be thankful for what they’ve seen out of LaVine this season, but for the last few years in general. LaVine has established himself as one of the true stars in the Eastern Conference and one of the best scoring guards in the entire league.

LaVine looks well on his way to getting his second All-Star selection in a row. He is also contending early on to get this first career All-NBA Team selection.

Through 19 games played this season, LaVine ranks in the top six in the league in points per game and is in the top 10 in offensive box plus/minus (5.1). He’s averaged 26.1 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks, so far this season. And LaVine shot 48.5 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The star duo of LaVine and DeRozan got the Bulls to where they are now. And if Vucevic can elevate his game upon his return from quarantine due to the league’s health and safety protocol, then this big three can truly establish itself as one of the best in the NBA. That will be the key to the Bulls reaching new heights consistently as a contender in the East.
