Scorers the Chicago Bulls can target in a trade: Jeremy Lamb
Among the most underrated potential veteran trade targets that the Bulls could find on the trade block this season as the deadline approaches in a few months is the Pacers 29-year-old shooting guard/wing Jeremy Lamb. The former Charlotte Hornets and Oklahoma City Thunder sharpshooting wing could bring a similar type of value to the table for the Bulls compared to someone like McDermott.
Both Lamb and McDermott can regularly shoot better than 40 percent from beyond the arc. And each can also move well off-ball to get open looks as well as create their own shots. That is actually one of the most underrated parts of Lamb’s game is the ability to hit pull-up jumpers from downtown.
The difference for the Bulls pursuing someone like Lamb compared to McDermott is the fact that the former is a lot better on-ball defender than the latter. One of the major pain points to McDermott’s game is his lack of on and off-ball defensive ability. He’s just not all that good on that end of the floor.
Yet, Lamb could be a solid two-way player for the Bulls. He’s playing well for the Pacers out of the gates this season and could contribute in a meaningful way off the bench for most NBA teams.
The main battle for Lamb at this point of his career is remaining healthy. He hasn’t played in more than 50 games in one regular season slate since the 2018-19 campaign with the Hornets.
But the good news for the Bulls, if they wanted to trade for Lamb, is the fact that he has a very non-consequential contract. Lamb is owed just over $10 million this season through the final year of his current contract.
The Bulls could give up a duo like Alize and Brown (and maybe some future draft capital) to land a player like Lamb. A lot of the workings of this deal would hinge on the position that the Pacers are in the Eastern Conference standings as we get closer to the trade deadline.
