Ice-cold players for the Chicago Bulls of late: Lonzo Ball

If there is one player that the Bulls really need to see a turnaround from soon in terms of production and efficiency on the offensive end of the floor, it’s the newly signed point guard Lonzo Ball. In the Bulls’ loss to the Pacers on Nov. 22, Lonzo not only had one of his worst offensive performances of the season but one of the worst of his entire career.

For the first time this season, Lonzo put up a literal goose egg in the scoring column. He registered zero points in the loss to the Pacers on 0-of-7 shooting from the field and 0-of-4 from beyond the arc. To add to that, he came up with just two assists and one turnover for his first negative game score of the season.

Hopefully, this is a one-off bad performance for Lonzo. But it is true that his offensive production has taken a dip in the last few games. Three of Lonzo’s lowest game scores of the season thus far through 18 games have come in the last six. Two of his four lowest point totals in any game this season have also come in the last three outings.

This stretch of the last four or five games for Lonzo still saw him play really solid on-ball defense, and the stat sheet reflects that fact. He did still hold his own defensively in the loss to the Pacers, as he came up with one steal and played a part in two other forced turnovers. I do expect Lonzo to respond in a big way in the next three or four games, but he has surely struggled offensively in the last three or four.
