In an eventual loss to the Central Division foe Indiana Pacers in convincing fashion on the night of Nov. 22 at home at the United Center, Chicago Bulls fans turned their attention and energy toward the ongoing hot seat situation with Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy. It wasn’t the Bulls’ losing situation on the court at the United Center on this night that really came into focus.
With the Bears coughing up another fourth-quarter lead this season in a loss to the cross-conference foe Baltimore Ravens at home at Soldier Field over the weekend, it looks like Chicago fans are officially beyond the tipping point with Nagy. Coming into this season, Nagy was on one of the hottest seats in the entire NFL.
Following the Bears’ one-possession loss to head coach John Harbaugh and the Ravens on Nov. 21, it now looks like the team is nearly out of postseason contention for good this season. The Bears are now sporting a record of 3-7.
And this continued frustration with the Bears’ coaching situation is what led to the fans at the UC in Chicago chanting out “Fire Nagy” in the Bulls’ loss to the Pacers on Nov. 22.
Chicago Bulls fans start a chant to fire Matt Nagy at the United Center
It reigned down from the stands at Soldier Field in the Bears’ eventual loss to the Ravens over the weekend and in the Bulls’ 32-point loss to the Pacers on Nov. 22. It’s clear that the city of Chicago is done with Nagy at this point.
Bulls fans are also Bears fans more often than not. And that presence was felt at the United Center on this night. While the Bulls were losing on the court, it was crazy to hear this chant come down from the fans in Chicago.
The Bulls and Bears look to be headed in the opposite direction right now, despite both teams losing in a bad way at some point in the last couple of days. Following the loss to the Pacers on Nov. 22, the Bulls now own a record of 12-6. Next up for second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls is a meeting on the road with the Houston Rockets on Nov. 24.
