Chicago Bulls: 4 free agents that could bolster the bench immediately
To wrap up the Western Conference road trip, second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls continued to prove that this team is ready to be a top contender for the postseason in their conference this season. Donovan and the Bulls topped a Denver Nuggets team on the road at Ball Arena on the night of Nov. 19 that was without the reigning MVP and superstar big man Nikola Jokic.
A win over the Nuggets entering the weekend moved the Bulls to a record of 11-5 on the season, tied for tops in the Eastern Conference standings as of the afternoon of Nov. 20. And the Bulls got that important win over the Nuggets on Nov. 19 by the final score of 114-108.
But not everything was perfect for the Bulls during the five-game road trip out west. The Bulls came away with a record of 3-2 from this five-game Western Conference road trip, including losses to the Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. The loss to the Blazers especially proves just how important it will be for the Bulls to have some consistent depth to turn to off the bench.
Chicago Bulls could still add to the roster out of free agency later this season
The Bulls will have some more depth back in the rotation upon the return of star center Nikola Vucevic. But it is also clear that there is some disconnect with some of the players specifically in this frontcourt unit for the Bulls this season. Power forward Alize Johnson and rookie big man Marko Simonovic essentially saw their playing time disappear. Granted, Simonovic didn’t have much, to begin with.
This team is also still working third-year point guard Coby White back from a shoulder injury he suffered back in the spring. It doesn’t look like the staff is ready to trust White in significant minutes off the bench yet either.
With all of this in mind, here’s a look into four free agents that the Bulls could sign to immediately bolster the bench early in the regular season.
