Trade targets to elevate the Chicago Bulls contender status: Marvin Bagley

Among the most heavily discussed potential trade chips in the last year or so is the former Duke Blue Devils star big man and Sacramento Kings power forward/center Marvin Bagley. Gone are the days it seems that the Kings are willing to be patient with and invest in Bagley’s development. It now looks like the Kings are going to move in a different direction in the frontcourt unit from Bagley.

Bagley wouldn’t be someone that is an immediate impact big man in the Bulls’ starting unit if this front office were to trade for him. But he could be a really nice addition to bolster the bench later on this season. Acquiring Bagley would also give the Bulls a long-term piece to continue building the frontcourt unit around.

The thought of the 22-year-old Bagley getting to learn under and develop his game around Vucevic could actually be a really good influence on him. There are flashes that Bagley showed in the last two seasons of improvement on the offensive end of the floor.

Being able to diversify his offensive arsenal and just stay healthy on a consistent basis are the two phases that Bagley needs to establish to become a quality big man in this league for a long time. And those are the two factors that held him back in his four seasons in the NBA with the Kings thus far.

All in all, it could be good for Bagley to get to go to more of a contender that has a clear role for him in the rotation. The Bulls could be an ideal landing spot for him. And the Bulls could use the addition to the frontcourt unit in the form of someone who moves well off ball and can space the floor at least semi-effectively.
