Chicago Bulls players that can limit Stephen Curry: Alex Caruso

One of the most obvious defensive matchups for Donovan to utilize to try and limit Curry on offense is with the former Los Angeles Lakers defensive standout point guard Alex Caruso. As one of the best defensive stoppers and on-ball perimeter defenders in the NBA, Caruso is a nice situational weapon to use for the Bulls’ staff.

We also can’t overlook some of the tremendous defensive performances Caruso already has under his belt during the regular season. He has two games with at least five steals in each coming off the bench so far this season. Caruso also now has more than five games where he came off the bench and registered at least four steals. He’s on an insane pace this season.

Caruso has essentially shut down nearly every guard he’s faced on a consistent basis so far this season. And he is familiar with facing Steph. The one downside to this potential defensive matchup on Curry for Donovan and the Bulls staff is the fact that Caruso had some rather mediocre defensive performances in the past in this particular matchup.

Caruso didn’t have the same type of on-ball defensive presence on Steph in the past that we’ve come to expect from him on a regular basis. But that might change with a new team.

When defending guards this season, Caruso has helped to force 16 turnovers compared to 23 assists. And the guards he’s defending this season have shot just 38 percent from the field and 16 percent from beyond the arc. That would give a pretty good indication that he would be a capable defender to limit Steph’s production when the Bulls face the Warriors on Nov. 12.
