Chicago Bulls: 3 former players the team currently misses
Former Chicago Bulls players the team should miss: Bobby Portis
It was nice to see the fellow former Razorbacks big man and Milwaukee Bucks power forward Bobby Portis win the first NBA Championship of his career last season. He is a player that is very easy to root for on that type of stage. Portis works incredibly hard and is one of the grittier forwards around the NBA nowadays.
He definitely deserved to get this title with the Bucks last season.
This was still a very long road for Portis to get to the point of winning a title last season. He spent roughly five years on mostly losing teams between his time with the Bulls, New York Knicks, and Wizards. Signing with the Bucks was a great move for Portis. This gave him a winning team to play for that launched his career in the right direction.
It is hard to imagine that Portis would be a bad fit with the current Bulls team, though. His floor-spacing, rebounding, and tough on-ball defense would all be positive forces off the bench in the Bulls’ frontcourt unit. He could also add some real grit for the Bulls at the four, something that could help the team this season.
Portis spent his first few years in the NBA with the Bulls. He was a good part of this team until the situation boiled over between him and fellow former Bulls power forward Nikola Mirotic.
All in all, it’s good to see someone that works as hard and plays as tough as Portis succeeding elsewhere. The Bulls will still see him a lot, though, as he is still playing for the division foe Bucks.
