Chicago Bulls studs from win over the Nets: Ayo Dosunmu

The second half was truly Ayo Dosunmu‘s time to shine. The former Illinois Fighting Illini star junior point guard and second-round draft pick of the Bulls from the summer was able to make waves off the bench in this win over the Nets.

Credit Donovan for giving Dosunmu consistent second-unit minutes at the outset of the regular season in the absence of third-year point guard Coby White. This has really paid off in the form of some serious energy that the Bulls get on both ends of the floor from this electric rookie Dosunmu.

No other Bulls reserve player was able to have the type of night that Dosunmu did providing energy to this team down the stretch. Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Alex Caruso was solid coming off the bench for the Bulls in the fourth quarter, but he didn’t explode off the screen as Dosunmu did late.

The Bulls got a season-high 15 points from Dosunmu off the bench against the Nets, along with seven rebounds, and one turnover. And he shot 6-of-10 from the field, 1-of-4 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.

Dosunmu was nothing short of electric for the Bulls on the boards and in transition in this game. He got a bit too excited at times, but you can’t take away from any of the energy he brought to the table in this win over the Nets.

This was definitely the best performance of the season so far for Dosumnu coming off the bench. We’re not going to get this type of outing from Dosunmu night in and night out, but he’s surely looking like he could establish a solid role for himself in this rotation with the way he’s playing right now.
