Studs for the Chicago Bulls in win over the Celtics: Ayo Dosunmu

Who could really fault the performance that the former Illinois Fighting Illini star junior point guard Ayo Dosunmu came up with in this win over the Celtics?

Dosunmu was the main spark plug that helped the Bulls’ bench get this fourth-quarter run going. He was a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. That resulted in 14 points for the Bulls in this game, along with four rebounds, two assists, no steals, no blocks, and two turnovers.

He was a +15 off the bench in this game. And a lot of those minutes that Dosunmu gave the Bulls came when they needed it the most. Dosunmu was insanely efficient to help pass the torch to the team’s top stars down the stretch.

It wasn’t just the scoring contributions for Dosunmu that were big in this game. He gave the team two much-needed offensive rebounds. The Celtics’ size was getting the most of the Bulls throughout much of the first three quarters. And the athleticism and energy that Dosunmu gave the Bulls off the bench was something to help turn their fortunes around.

All in all, the Bulls bench gave them 36 points compared to 21 for the Celtics. That was a big deciding factor in this game and no one was bigger off the Bulls’ bench than Dosunmu. Props to him for the best game of his rookie campaign thus far.
