Bulls rumors already seem to be ratcheting up early on in the regular season, before any significant trades really have a chance to go down. And the latest on the rumor mill in Chicago has to do with the former North Carolina Tar Heel and third-year 21-year-old point guard Coby White.
A piece from Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype that was released over the weekend detailed the fact that the Bulls’ front office could make White “expendable” at some point this season ahead of the trade deadline. This piece also mentioned White as the top trade candidate to watch for the Bulls ahead of the deadline next year.
This type of rumor isn’t all that surprising to hear at this point. The Bulls’ front office has parted ways with essentially every other piece from the previous young core in Chicago that was assembled by John Paxson and Gar Forman at the outset of the rebuild.
Bulls rumors now starting involving Coby White this season
While Coby could still hold a valuable role coming off the bench for second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls this season, it makes sense that the front office would try and dish him out for the right return ahead of the deadline. If the front office is set on trading White anyway, it doesn’t make much sense to keep him around when they can add other pieces to help this team find more strength in the rotation now.
White still should carry a good amount of value on the trade market this season. But the longer that the Bulls hang onto White (especially if he doesn’t perform up to par), the further his trade value could decline.
Here’s a look into three players to target for the Bulls if the front office intends to trade White this season.
