Key Chicago Bulls players that can help the team stay undefeated: Zach LaVine

There was not one player more important to the Bulls’ efforts to finally get the offense off the ground to beat the Pistons in the season opener than star shooting guard Zach LaVine. But it wasn’t just LaVine’s offensive efforts that helped to guide the Bulls to a win over the Pistons on opening night.

LaVine was playing good on-ball and help defense, which could be a new occurrence in his game. The length and insanely gifted physical tools that LaVine brings to the table always present the idea that he could play much better defense. Maybe that part of his game is finally coming to fruition. But don’t expect too much out of him on that end of the floor this season.

In his quest to garner his second consecutive (and second total of his career) All-Star selection, LaVine got off to a great start to this regular season. He led the Bulls to get the win over the Pistons earlier this week by putting up a game-high 34 point effort. LaVine also registered seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block, and two turnovers.

With star forward Zion Williamson out for the Pelicans in this meeting with the Bulls on Oct. 22, LaVine’s scoring efforts could be more than enough to get another win for this team. And considering talented rookie point guard Cade Cunningham will likely be missing again for the Pistons on Oct. 23, LaVine could really be a catalyst to get spark the Bulls’ offense and lead this team to a 3-0 start.

The Bulls won’t need LaVine to score 30-35 points each night to find success in the win column this season. But if he continues to put up solid defensive stats and help out where needed on that end of the floor, that should be more than enough for LaVine to get the Bulls into the postseason and get his second All-Star nod in a row.
