Chicago Bulls: Projecting the full rotation ahead of regular season
Chicago Bulls starting center: Nikola Vucevic
Maybe the most overlooked player in the Bulls starting unit at this point is somehow the former Orlando Magic star center Vucevic. The Bulls went all out to get Vucevic from the Magic at the trade deadline last season.
The fit between LaVine and Vucevic is a really potent one for the Bulls. They work extremely well together in the pick-and-roll and dribble-hand-off style offenses. That should continue to be a main part of the offense for the Bulls in the starting unit this season.
The two-time All-Star Vucevic is an elite outside shooter for a big man, especially from above-the-break. He is going to be a high-volume shooter that is likely to be one of the most effective floor-spacing big men in the NBA again this season.
Where Vucevic does need to step up his game is on the defensive end of the floor. We know Vucevic has a wide arsenal of tools and moves on offense, and that he can rebound the ball well. But one of his big weaknesses tends to be defending skilled big men.
If Vucevic can at least be a neutral defender for the Bulls this season, that would go a long way to helping this team get more success in the win column overall. Vucevic is going to be a critical part of any success that the Bulls find this season. And the window of the prime years of his career looks to be starting to close at nearly 31 years of age.
