Chicago Bulls ready to explode early in the season: Patrick Williams
One of the Bulls players that we were most excited to see play late in the preseason was the former Florida State Seminole and second-year forward Patrick Williams. The former fourth overall pick of the Bulls in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft should still be a key piece of the starting unit heading into the regular season.
P-Will made his preseason debut with the Bulls this year in the finale against the Grizzlies. He worked his way back from an injury he suffered in the weeks leading up to the start of Training Camp and the preseason. But he was able to get back in the rotation much quicker than originally anticipated.
In just 22 minutes played in the preseason finale win over the Grizzlies last week, P-Will had a solid showing. He was efficient in registering six points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block. And P-Will shot 2-of-6 from the field, 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and didn’t have any attempts from the free-throw line.
With how good P-Will looked during the Las Vegas NBA Summer League and in a limited stint in one game during the preseason, there is a lot of momentum building to his second regular season in the league.
This is a season where P-Will should continue to develop as an off-ball threat and one of the better wing/forward defenders in the Central Divison. Basketball-Reference projects him to average around 13 points per game, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. And he’s projected to shoot 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
