Chicago Bulls: Team enters regular season on a high note after preseason
You can’t help but be impressed about how second-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls showed out during the four-game preseason slate. The Bulls downed the Memphis Grizzlies in the preseason finale at home at the United Center on the night of Oct. 15, by the final score of 118-105.
It was another big double-digit win for Donovan and the Bulls to round out this impressive preseason slate. The Bulls finished up the preseason with a record of 4-0 following this win over the Grizzlies heading into the weekend.
The other wins for the Bulls in the preseason came over the Cleveland Cavaliers twice (one at home and one on the road) and a shorthanded New Orleans Pelicans team. Three of the Bulls’ four wins during the preseason were also very convincing. The only game that was close in the preseason was the one-point victory over the Cavs on the road back on Oct. 10.
Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls looking good heading into the regular season
There is now a lot of momentum that Donovan and the Bulls head into the regular season with. The Bulls open up the regular season slate on Oct. 20 on the road against the Detroit Pistons. It looks like the Bulls should have a ton of confidence heading into the regular season opener against the Pistons next week.
Pretty much the entire starting five looked good for the Bulls during the preseason. With the exception of second-year forward Patrick Williams missing most of the preseason due to a lower-body injury, the Bulls should be very excited about what’s to come for this starting unit.
And the bench looked really good for Donovan and the Bulls too during the preseason. Impressive showings from the likes of power forward Alize Johnson, point guard Alex Caruso, shooting guard Javonte Green, and rookie point guard Ayo Dosunmu, among others, should inspire confidence about how strong the Bulls’ bench could be for Donovan heading into the regular season.
Donovan and the Bulls will head into the regular season looking to make some real progress in the Eastern Conference standings. If the Bulls are able to make it to the postseason during the 2021-22 campaign, it would snap a four-year-long postseason drought.
