Who Chicago Bulls should’ve signed instead of Bryce Alford: Langston Galloway

One of the most appealing veterans that recently hit the free agent market heading into the regular season is the former Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns sharpshooting guard Langston Galloway. Earlier this week, the Warriors waived Galloway in the wake of a few younger guards rising up in a big way since the latter stages of this past regular season.

The reason would I would mention that the Bulls should go after Galloway instead of Alford is the fact that Donovan could likely use this type of veteran voice in the locker room this season. The Bulls lost a lot of veteran voices that were very important pieces to the team last season. That included the likes of veteran forward Thaddeus Young, shooting guard/wing Garrett Temple, and combo guard Tomas Satoransky, among others.

Yet, you can’t look past the incredible production that Galloway gave the likes of the Suns and Detroit Pistons in terms of floor spacing over the course of the last two seasons. He shot north of 42 percent from beyond the arc with the Suns last season. And he shot 39.9 percent from beyond the arc with the Pistons during the 2019-20 campaign.

Alford was a solid floor spacer during his four seasons at UCLA in college, and he became one of the best sharpshooting guards in Europe playing professionally in the last couple of years.

But Galloway can contribute to the Bulls right away knowing the proven production he brings to the table in terms of shooting from deep. And while he’s not the best defender in terms of reserve guards that the Bulls could go get right now, Galloway can be disruptive. That would fit a theme that Donovan and the Bulls have worked on with all of the lengthy new players in this lineup.
