Recently waived players for the Chicago Bulls to target: Deividas Sirvydis
This was a weird offseason for the former second-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks from the 2019 NBA Draft, lengthy shooting guard/wing Deividas Sirvydis. After getting signed to a contract with the Pistons heading into Training Camp and the preseason last month, Sirvydis didn’t stick around for too long before he hit free agency again.
The plan could be for the Pistons to try and have Sirvydis play in the G-League this season. But there are some interesting roster moves that the Pistons made in the last few weeks.
This is a new direction that the Pistons are going in heading into the regular season, led by the No. 1 overall draft pick and former Oklahoma State Cowboys point guard Cade Cunningham.
Two of the players that the Pistons have parted ways with, Sirvydis and Doumbouya, still have a lot of potential left to tap into. And it’s pretty surprising that no one picked up the lengthy 6-foot-8 and 190-pound 21-year-old sharpshooter.
Sirvydis could be a high-reward addition for the Bulls that could also be someone that is a candidate to get the last two-way contract slot. The Bulls are valuing length and floor spacing heading into the regular season, hence why they’ve signed other guards/wings such as Matt Thomas and Alex Caruso during the offseason.
If the Bulls added Sirvydis, he could have a higher ceiling than someone like Thomas or fellow recently signed small forward Stanley Johnson. The roster might be too crowded right now for Karnisovas and Eversley to consider signing Sirvydis. But if the front office is looking into adding another player to bring more depth to the rotation ahead of the start of the regular season, Sirvydis should be one of the first calls.
