Heading into the regular season, the Chicago Bulls front office should be happy with where this team is at following a long offseason of piecing together an upgraded roster. The Bulls now look to have a roster under second-year head coach Billy Donovan that is ready to contend for a solid postseason spot in the Eastern Conference this season.

Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley did a lot of good work during the summer months to piece together a much better roster heading into the season. The Bulls added the likes of star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan, point guard Lonzo Ball, guard Alex Caruso, small forward Derrick Jones Jr., etc. during the offseason.

Who the Chicago Bulls could keep an eye on in the future among stars around the NBA?

A lot of focus this season will now be placed on the contract situation of star shooting guard Zach LaVine. This is a contract year for LaVine, and he’s likely to get a sizable max contract extension ahead of or during next offseason.

While it wouldn’t make much sense for the Bulls to do all of this work to build up a solid supporting cast for LaVine, just to let him walk next summer, the front office should be prepared for all possibilities. That includes the idea of continuing to upgrade the roster by adding another star sometime in the future.

The writing is on the wall for a few potential disgruntled superstars this season and next. Here’s a look at three that Karnisovas and Eversley should be keeping an eye on in the next couple of seasons.
