As one of the most talented Chicago Bulls teams that this fan base has in a good while to watch, the 2021-22 season should definitely deliver in terms of entertainment. Second-year head coach Billy Donovan has a rejuvenated roster that should give him the ability to compete as a postseason contender in the Eastern Conference this season.

It surely looked like the Bulls will have a very capable roster to work with heading into the regular season with the way the team showed out in the preseason opener. On Oct. 5 at home at the United Center, the Bulls opened up the preseason slate with a dominant 131-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Chicago Bulls have a host of young players looking to prove themselves this season

Granted, you can’t take too much away from a preseason opener for a team that is looking to improve with a lot of new pieces like the Bulls. Donovan and the Bulls still have a long way to go to get this team in a place to compete to get a clean spot in the postseason in 2022.

New additions for the Bulls such as star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan, point guard Lonzo Ball, guard Alex Caruso, small forward Derrick Jones Jr., etc., should help to elevate this team’s success in the win column this season. But there are others that need to step up for the Bulls too if this team wants to make at least a decent postseason run.

Although there’s not as many as there were under the previous front office regime of John Paxson and Gar Forman, the Bulls still have some underachieving/underutilized players that need to step up. Here’s a look into three to watch in particular to rise to the occasion this season.
