Chicago Bulls players ready to shock the world this season: Patrick Williams
One player that Bulls fans will at least have to wait a few weeks to see play this season is the second-year former Florida State Seminoles forward Patrick Williams. The former ACC Sixth Man of the Year and fourth overall pick of the Bulls in the 2020 NBA Draft had a solid rookie campaign.
But there’s still a number of strides that Williams has to make to truly start to round out his game to become an effective two-way wing/forward. Williams was one of the better defenders for Donovan and the Bulls last season, but his offensive game had holes to it.
Williams was a good outside shooter, but he lacked aggressiveness and made untimely turnovers at times. In his second year in the NBA, we should start to see Williams work out a lot of those issues.
There will be so much dependency on the two-way production of Williams in the starting unit this season that he will need to take his game to the next level. Rebounding, confidence, and floor spacing are all areas where Williams can continue to improve as potential staples in his game moving forward.
It is likely that Williams will be starting at the four this season for the Bulls. That will draw some tough defensive assignments again this season for him. And while he’s got other weapons that will be playing in the starting unit along with him like DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, Williams will have to clean up some of the holes he showed as a rookie.
