Chicago Bulls players ready to shock the world this season: Alex Caruso
There are a few candidates to pick from in the Bulls’ backcourt that are some candidates to make noise this season in new, and/or elevating, roles. A few to note, outside of the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Alex Caruso, are the ex-Boston Celtics shooting guard Javonte Green and former Brooklyn Nets power forward Alize Johnson.
Caruso looks to be a player that could be a really nice fit for Donovan and the Bulls heading into the regular season. If he wasn’t going to be a good fit with this new core, the front office would not have done so much to sign him out of free agency during the summer.
Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley signed Caruso down to a four-year contract worth a total of around $37 million.
Caruso will be able to provide a much-needed defensive boost with the Bulls. The Lakers didn’t need his defensive ability in the backcourt unit as much as the Bulls do this season. And Caruso can be a capable floor spacer that will have plenty of room to work with.
Like I said earlier, you can’t put too much stock into the performance of a player like Caruso from a preseason opener. But it sure looked good for Caruso in a double-double in his Bulls’ preseason debut in the 36-point win over the Cavaliers on Oct. 5.
