Chicago Bulls preseason trades involving Coby White: Get Dario Saric from the Suns

This particular trade idea for the Bulls actually accomplishes two things for this team. The first is get rid of an expiring deal in the former Washington Wizards shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. And the second is to get help at the power forward position next season.

To start off the list, we propose the Bulls shipping off Brown and White to the Phoenix Suns for a return of the floor-spacing power forward Dario Saric.

There are a few factors in play here that would obviously impact how a trade like this could play out. First and foremost, Saric would need to come back in some type of similar form to what he was before the ACL injury he suffered a few months back. Saric tore his ACL with the Suns in the postseason back in July, and subsequently got surgery to start the recovery timeline.

No exact timeline exists for the return of Saric. But if this is a positive scenario for him, all things considered, he could be back in the rotation for the Suns by the turn of the calendar year.

Assuming Saric is back in the mix for the Suns at a productive level on the bench, this deal could theoretically start for the Bulls. And then, if the Bulls still aren’t giving a significant role to Brown off the bench, it might be worth getting help at the four by dishing him out on a contract year. The Bulls might as well get something for Brown at that point.

The Bulls will also only have one more year on the contract of White nearing trade deadline time next season. This could be a nice swap for some expiring, or about to be, contracts between the Bulls and Suns at some point next season if Saric is able to work back after that ACL injury last season.
