It seems like the Chicago Bulls‘ second-year front office regime of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley had their sights set on parting ways with the entirety of the previous young core last season. Since the start of last season, the Bulls actually did ship off most key pieces of the team’s prior young core.
That included parting ways with the likes of power forward Lauri Markkanen, center Wendell Carter Jr., center Daniel Gafford, small forward Chandler Hutchison, etc. This really just leaves to-be third-year point guard and former North Carolina Tar Heel Coby White as the lone big piece of the prior Bulls’ young core that is still around in Chicago.
Coby White the last remaining major piece of the previous Chicago Bulls young core
White was the seventh overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft for the Bulls. He was the last first-round draft pick of the former front office pairing of John Paxson and Gar Forman.
While White showed flashes in the last two seasons that he could be a brilliant volume-scoring guard in the NBA, he’s also showed a lot of flaws on each end of the floor. White does still bring a lot of value to the table as a volume-scoring guard off the bench. But that is the main role he fits into.
And with the Bulls’ front office continually shaping this roster away from what it looked like under the GarPax regime, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see Coby gone soon too. With that in mind, here’s a look at three preseason trade ideas for the Bulls involving Coby.
