Predicting final free agent signing for the Chicago Bulls: Jordan Ford

Another undersized, but potent option, that the Bulls could add to help round out the roster ahead of the start of Training Camp and the preseason is the former Saint Mary’s College combo guard Jordan Ford. As he never really got an actual shot to find traction with the Los Angeles Clippers last season, this could be a good path to give Ford to sign him to a non-guaranteed deal.

Ford was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Clippers following the 2020 NBA Draft. And he never got to play in a single regular season or postseason game with the Clippers last season. His only action came during the preseason and in Summer League.

But the action that Ford did see in the G-League with the Clippers affiliate Agua Caliente Clippers saw him put up some flashes of brilliance offensively. He shot better than 40 percent from beyond the arc in the G-League last season and with the Clippers Summer League team in Las Vegas.

The Bulls would be taking a risk by giving someone like Ford real minutes out of the gates. But he could be a nice boost to the backcourt unit in terms of his quickness off the dribble, effectiveness in transition, and how well he can stroke it from deep. Ford is a guard that can move the ball fast and help to generate an effective flow of the offense around the perimeter.

With third-year point guard Coby White set to likely miss the start of the regular season, the Bulls could use another volume scorer and knockdown shooter that can be an initiator like Ford. He would be an interesting addition that could also compete for that other two-way contract slot.
