Predicting final free agent signing for the Chicago Bulls: Jarrell Brantley
One of the more underrated players that appeared on waivers in the last couple of weeks that the Bulls could add to the camp roster this week is the former Utah Jazz forward Jarrell Brantley. The 6-foot-5 and 250-pound forward is undersized, but he was efficient in the limited minutes he got with the Jazz last season.
For Brantley to make his way onto this roster, he’d have to show that he could be a unique forward switchable at any position really between the two and the four. But Brantley showed some real improvement last season with the Jazz and with their Las Vegas NBA Summer League team. He could continue that moment with the Bulls in camp and the preseason.
In 28 games played with the Jazz last season, Brantley averaged 16.7 points per 36 minutes, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he shot 48.1 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from beyond the arc, and hit on both of his attempts from the free-throw line.
Brantley is a good defender that is tough down low and can help space the floor. Given the lack of size that the Bulls have in the projected starting five heading into next season, this could be a plan for Donovan to roll with moving forward. A rotation that benefits small ball lineups would be a good fit ideally for Brantley.
Of the three names on this list, Brantley might be my personal favorite among the low-risk options that the Bulls could look to round out the roster heading into camp.
