Stars Chicago Bulls’ new G Alex Caruso locked down defensively: Trae Young

Another young star point guard that Caruso was able to lock down on in the last two seasons around the NBA was the former Oklahoma Sooner and Atlanta Hawks standout scorer Trae Young. Caruso didn’t get to defend Young as much as he did Doncic in the past three seasons, but he was good when these two matched up against each other.

Caruso was extremely disruptive against the Hawks as a whole in the past few seasons. And a lot of that had to do with how well he defended the Hawks’ primary initiator and facilitator in “Ice Trae”.

As the only player that Caruso forced five turnovers while guarding during the 2019-20 season, Young really had a lot of trouble minimizing mistakes against those Lakers’ teams when White Mamba 2.0 was on the floor.

And during that season, Young only registered two assists compared to those five turnovers.

Although Caruso only logged one turnover while guarding Trae last season, he held the Hawks’ star point guard to shooting just 33 percent from the field and to miss all of his attempts from beyond the arc. Young has played well against a number of other perimeter defenders in the last few seasons. But the one-time All-Star selection had trouble getting much of anything going consistently against Caruso in the last two seasons.
