Knicks possible trade targets to watch for the Chicago Bulls: Alec Burks

Since the Knicks are a team that could be in the position to try and make roster moves ahead of the deadline, along with the Bulls next season, players with more movable contracts are the ones to watch in the coming months. One of those movable contracts that the Knicks have heading into next season is that of the veteran 30-year-old shooting guard/small forward Alec Burks.

This resurgent wing scorer has played for a whopping six different teams in the NBA since the start of the 2018-19 season. He looked to find a home with the Knicks last season, but he’s certainly been on the move a lot in the last few years. Just last season, Burks played for the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Knicks.

But what Burks could bring to the table for the Bulls that this team doesn’t have at the moment is a very solid floor spacer that can also be a secondary initiator to play off the bench. The Bulls do have someone that can space the floor that can also play in the starting unit in second-year forward Patrick Williams. And DeRozan can be an initiator.

It’s tough to see either Derrick Jones Jr. or Troy Brown Jr. becoming the type of floor spacer and/or scorer that Burks was in the last three seasons. Burks carries a contract that would force the Bulls to part with something or someone valuable if this hypothetical trade were to happen sometime next season. That’s why, if it isn’t working out between the Bulls and Jones, that a player swap along with shooting guard Javonte Green could make sense here.
