Chicago Bulls: 3 remaining wing shooters to add before camp
There aren’t many remaining needs that head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls have to fill ahead of the start of Training Camp and the preseason. And that is a good thing considering the start of the preseason slate is now exactly one week away, specifically set for Sep. 28.
Donovan and the Bulls are then set to tip-off the preseason slate in roughly two weeks. The preseason opener is set for Oct. 5 at home at the United Center against Lauri Markkanen and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Bulls really made a host of free agent signings to start rounding out the camp roster before the process begins next week. Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley added some depth on the wing and in the frontcourt unit with some late signings earlier this month.
Chicago Bulls can add wing shooting depth at a really late point in the offseason
Among those key signings for the Bulls within the last few weeks were forward Tyler Cook, power forward Alize Johnson, and shooting guard/wing Matt Thomas. And while one of the recent signings could fill the final two-way contract slot, that is still something that the Bulls have left to fill ahead of the start of next season.
The lone two-way contract slot at the moment is occupied by the second-year former Kansas Jayhawks point guard Devon Dotson. Shooting guard/wing Adam Mokoka doesn’t look like he will return for the Bulls heading into next season, as he was the other player that occupied a two-way contract slot last season.
What the Bulls could still use on this roster heading into next season is more floor spacing on the wing. Two of the current players that are lined up to get second unit minutes in the wing rotation, Troy Brown Jr. and Derrick Jones Jr., are not very capable shooters from deep.
Here’s a look into three of the best remaining wing shooters available in free agency to add before the start of Training Camp next week.
