Bulls Rumors: Zach LaVine a key trade target for the Celtics
Something that likely won’t slow down around Bulls rumors heading into next season is any speculation surrounding star shooting guard Zach LaVine on the trade market. It doesn’t look like the Bulls’ front office has given any indication that LaVine will be available in trade talks heading into next season, but that hasn’t stopped various reports from coming out about teams potentially targeting him.
And the latest to do so is the Eastern Conference foe Boston Celtics, who will apparently be making both LaVine and Washington Wizards star shooting guard Bradley Beal “top targets” on the trade market next season. This rumor comes according to a report from the Boston Globe this weekend.
This report notes that the Celtics could use some star help alongside the potent duo of star forwards/wings Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The Celtics weren’t really able to live up to the hype in the past few seasons with the current core on hand.
Latest Bulls rumors peg Zach LaVine as a trade target of the Celtics
And the Celtics already made the move this offseason to part ways with veteran point guard Kemba Walker and promote former head coach Brad Stephens to become the lead in the front office. This will be a pretty different-looking Celtics team heading into next season.
One thing that will continue to bring about the LaVine trade discussions is the fact that he’s up for a sizable contract extension next offseason. LaVine is very likely to get a max contract next offseason, which means there will be a lot of chatter about his status with the Bulls throughout the entirety of the 2021-22 campaign.
For now, though, the Bulls’ focus needs to be on having the right attitude coming out of Training Camp and the preseason. Head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls have a difficult schedule out of the gates next season.
LaVine and the Bulls are set to open up Training Camp on Sep. 28. And then, the preseason slate tips off for the Bulls at home at the United Center on Oct. 5 against Lauri Markkanen and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
