Other free agents Bulls rumors should focus on instead of James Ennis: Patrick Patterson

It seems like each passing day I talk about why the Bulls should, or should have, signed the former Los Angeles Clippers veteran power forward Patrick Patterson. As one of the most experienced and proven forwards remaining in free agency at this point of the offseason, it’s hard to believe that Patterson is still unsigned.

While the same definitely could be said for Ennis, Patterson is someone that would fill more of a direct need for the Bulls. Now, it was a good move for Karnisovas and the Bulls to go out and sign the former Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers power forward Alize. But that is not as reliable of an option to fill key minutes off the bench at the four compared to someone like Patterson.

Considering head coach Billy Donovan values that two-way nature in a forward’s game, and really a proven outside shooting ability, Patterson could be a good fit on this bench.

If the Bulls were ever considering the move to sign Patterson, the good news is that there is still time. Nonetheless, with the Bulls adding both Alize and fellow power forward Tyler Cook in the last few days, the chances of signing a more proven veteran out there in free agency like Patterson look slim.

That same report from Scotto of Hoops Hype did link the Trail Blazers to Patterson. And maybe that is a sign that the market is picking up for him. But that is also a sign that he is one of the better options remaining in free agency.

If the Bulls are still seeking out veteran help to add to the roster ahead of the start of Training Camp and the preseason, there might not be a better option than Patterson.
