The latest round of Bulls rumors brought some interesting news to the table in Chicago on Sep. 8. Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley apparently now have their eyes on the former Orlando Magic veteran small forward James Ennis III.
This 6-foot-6 and 215-pound 31-year-old wing is one of the best shooters that was available in free agency at any point of the offseason. Especially less than three weeks from the start of Bulls’ Training Camp, Ennis is likely the best outside shooter remaining in free agency by now.
Bulls rumors have interest with AK in James Ennis III
It was reported by Michael Scott of Hoops Hype on Sep. 8 that the Bulls are one of four teams interested in Ennis just ahead of the start of Training Camp and the preseason. The other three are the Magic (his former team), Portland Trail Blazers, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
But the Bulls don’t have much roster room left at this point after a bevy of moves this week to get the preseason rotation set. The Bulls have signed a multitude of players in the last few days, ranging from forwards Stanley Johnson and Alize Johnson to guards Ethan Thompson and Matt Thomas.
Now that the Bulls have the rotation mostly straightened out less than three weeks from the start of camp, would signing Ennis be the best move? I do think there are some other options out there for the Bulls to consider over Ennis. Here’s a look into three players that would make more sense to sign than Ennis at this point of the offseason.
