Most underrated Chicago Bulls signings this offseason: Javonte Green
Another solid value signing that the Bulls got in a role that won’t require too large of a reliance on for consistent production on both ends of the floor came when the Bulls reupped former Boston Celtics shooting guard Javonte Green. As the lone player on this list that the Bulls had on the roster last season, Green was still someone worth mentioning that the team is getting back for a good value.
The Bulls got Green back on a two-year minimum deal for the next two seasons. He had a solid stretch contributing in a limited role for Donovan and the Bulls post-trade deadline last season. And given the need that the Bulls have for the defensive boost in the backcourt rotation next season, Green will definitely be nice to have back in the fold.
Green definitely gave the Bulls some tremendous defensive production last season that fell too far under-the-radar. Among those that played in at least 100 total minutes for the Bulls last season, Green led the team in steals per possession. And he finished first among guards in blocks per possession last season.
That’s not to mention the sparkling career-best 3.2 defensive box plus/minus he registered with the Bulls down the stretch.
There’s even more encouraging signs with where Green’s game is headed. He shot a career-best 37.5 percent from beyond the arc with the Bulls. And he was very effective shooting from the corners, as he hit his corner three-point attempts at a clip of 50 percent down the stretch last season.
I personally love this signing for the Bulls to get back Green for two more years. He can be a nice fit as a three-and-D wing that is a good shooter from the corners and a very good on-ball defender.
