Underrated veterans for the Chicago Bulls to sign: E’Twaun Moore

At the moment, it looks like Donovan and the Bulls have a pretty crowded backcourt rotation heading into Training Camp and the preseason. The Bulls have a plethora of young guard talent between the likes of Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Dotson, Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, etc.

But where the Bulls are lacking is with veteran options that can play at shooting guard and/or on the wing. There’s also not a single established floor spacer that the Bulls can play at the two-guard heading into next season.

This is where the front office could go out and sign someone like a veteran former Bulls guard in the 32-year-old E’Twaun Moore. Last season, Moore played more than 70 percent of his minutes for the Pelicans at the two and the three. With how much small ball the Bulls are looking to play next season given the lack of height and proven depth in the frontcourt unit beyond Nikola Vucevic, Moore could be a nice boost to this rotation.

Moore is a career 46 percent shooter from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc. And while he’s not the best defender, he’s not the worst either. The Bulls would likely get a net neutral presence on defense if Moore played the bulk of his minutes at the two and three.

There is the potential for someone like shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. to play some quality minutes as a floor spacer at the two. But he has yet to shoot even 35 percent from beyond the arc on a consistent basis in his young career to date.

If the Bulls were to sign Moore, he could be a backup option as a two-guard that allows Donovan to play Brown in more minutes where he’s needed more at the three. And then, it would also allow Donovan to play shooting guard Javonte Green in more selective minutes as a standout defender.

Moore and Green are very different players at the two-guard. The situational matchups that Donovan could conjure up with having both of those guards in the rotation would be very useful.
