Chicago Bulls: 3 deep sleepers to add to the Training Camp roster
Deep sleepers for the Chicago Bulls to add to the camp roster: Cameron Krutwig
Among the more traditional big men that was a sleeper to be selected at the back end of the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft was the former Loyola-Chicago Ramblers standout 6-foot-9 and 255-pound center Cameron Krutwig. Signing to take his talents overseas in Belgium following going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft, Krutwig could be someone that the Bulls try to get back to the NBA for Training Camp.
The three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference Team selection, 2020-21 MVC Player of the Year, and reigning NCAA Tournament All-Region Team selection ended his college career on a decorated note. But that wasn’t enough for Krutwig to hear his name called during the draft, or even get signed as an undrafted free agent.
It’s not that the Bulls would be getting a big man with an insanely high ceiling by bringing in Krutwig on a camp deal, but it could be a nice addition for an undervalued player. Krutwig is an underrated scorer within 10-feet of the rim and a good rebounder. He also jostles well for position in the paint and was a consistently underrated defender at Loyola-Chicago.
Krutwig could be more of a traditional big man presence in camp compared to someone that pushes the envelope on offense more like the former KK Mega Bemax center Marko Simonovic. The Bulls could add a big man that is stout in on-ball defense, can score from almost anywhere inside the arc, and is better in transition than he gets credit for, in Krutwig.
