Chicago Bulls top remaining free agents in September: Paul Millsap

The best free agent target that Karnisovas and the Bulls could go after from what’s remaining on the open market at this point of the offseason is the four-time All-Star and former Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks veteran power forward Paul Millsap. A looming need for the Bulls at the four could be filled immediately and effectively by Millsap.

There is a shot that Millsap finds a good landing spot with the Bulls. That largely depends on what’s he’s looking for in his next destination after spending the last four seasons in the Mile High City.

Moreover, the Bulls are apparently pursuing Millsap in free agency already entering the month of September. There are other presumed suitors for Millsap, including the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, etc.

But the Bulls might be able to offer Millsap something that other suitors can’t, a role in the starting unit with the ability to vault a team into postseason contention.

It’s hard to find a remaining free agent that would be a more welcome addition right away than Millsap for the Bulls. This would be a great fit for all parties involved, and could only help the Bulls make a deeper postseason run.

If what seals the deal with Millsap is a spot in the starting five, the Bulls should give that to him. But if the role he wants next is a significant one at the four off the bench, then that’s something that Donovan and the Bulls could give him to. Millsap could be a sixth man for the Bulls next season, or a starter at the four that plays roughly 25 minutes per night.
