Chicago Bulls options in free agency on the wing: James Ennis III

Definitely, one of the most underrated wings still available on the free agent market at this point of the offseason is the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard/forward James Ennis III. The 31-year-old former Cal State Long Beach star really had his effectiveness put on display with the Magic last season.

Although, a lot of what Ennis does on a broad basis still flies under the radar. That is hard to believe given that he averaged around nine points per game, four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and 0.5 blocks, last season. And he shot 47.3 percent from the field, 43.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Ennis is the type of wing that could effectively come off the bench and play anywhere between 10-20 minutes per night. He’s also a much more versatile and effective offensive presence than the Bulls get on a consistent basis out of Brown Jr. and Green. It would be nice for Donovan to have this type of player in the rotation heading into next season.

Ennis is not only a good offensive weapon to knock down open shots, hit the glass hard, and manage the ball well when it’s in his hands, he’s a good one-on-one wing defender. He also brings a good veteran presence to the table to an otherwise young and inexperienced group of wings for the Bulls on the current roster.
