Options for Chicago Bulls to fill remaining roster spots

Tyler Bey

Among the options that Karnisovas and the Bulls have to fill this trio of remaining roster spots from the players invited to play with the team in Summer League, the former Dallas Mavericks rookie wing Tyler Bey has to be appealing. Bey didn’t have the most efficient showing in Summer League, but he flashed the potential that made him a possible first-round pick heading into the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Mavs gave up on Bey pretty early, and he could be a low-risk option for the Bulls to try and develop over the course of the next year or two. It wouldn’t hurt for the Bulls to add more wing depth heading into next season, potentially with the other remaining two-way contract slot.

Lauri Markkanen

There is certainly still the possibility that the market is just completely dried up for Markkanen at this point of the offseason. It looks like the price tag he was looking for on his next contract was just too much for any of his original suitors, and for the Bulls to want to re-sign him.

Markkanen is going to get at least $9.5 million in average annual value on his next contract. But he might not get much higher than that with the limited prospects left in his market.

Obviously, if the Bulls are able to bring back Markkanen heading into next season, it would help to solve the problem of depth at the four. And he wouldn’t cost the Bulls all that much if he was forced to come back for at least one more year.
