Chicago Bulls players ready to breakthrough after Summer League: Patrick Williams

Although he didn’t play in all of the Summer League schedule for the Bulls, second-year former Florida State Seminoles forward Patrick Williams definitely showed some flashes that the fans in Chicago have to be excited about. A lot of the aspects of P-Will’s game where we wanted to see growth started to shine through during Summer League.

Williams became a more impactful rebounder and off-ball player in transition. He also got a lot more aggressive and consistently productive on the offensive end of the floor. One stat that really sticks out for Williams from Summer League was his usage rate just shy of 31 percent.

During his rookie campaign, Williams registered a usage rate at 14.9. That’s a really stark contrast.

Now, there is clearly a difference that Williams will have in usage between Summer League and with the team that will be suiting up during the regular season for the Bulls. But the fact that Williams could average more than 20 points per game, 10 rebounds, and three assists while shooting the ball effectively from three-point land, means you have to be encouraged about what he showed in Vegas.

There will be a lot of times where Williams is the fifth option in this starting unit on the offensive end of the floor. But if he continues to show this increased level of aggressiveness and three-point shooting efficiency, while maintaining the defensive stature he showed as a rookie, Williams will be one of the most effective and multiple two-way players in the Central Division next season.
