Chicago Bulls: 3 remaining free agents to fill PF need
What looks to be the biggest remaining need for the Chicago Bulls to fill this offseason is at the power forward position. Unless executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley reverse course with fourth-year power forward Lauri Markkanen this summer, there will be a sizable need to fill at the four.
The good news for head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls is that the four spot in the starting unit looks to already filled. It is likely to be either second-year power forward Patrick Williams or the former San Antonio Spurs star shooting guard/forward DeMar DeRozan that will start at the four heading into next season.
If Lauri Markkanen leaves, the Chicago Bulls need a lot of help at the four
The problem arises for the Bulls when you start trying to find who will assume the backup role at the four. Losing Markkanen (which seems likely at this point) along with veteran forward Thaddeus Young essentially means that any prior depth the Bulls had at power forward.
There are some good options that remain out in the free agent market for Karnisovas and the Bulls to go get to help round out the bench. The Bulls do still have three spots remaining on the roster heading into Training Camp and the preseason. Karnisovas could bring in some other younger players to try and give a shot to earn a roster spot at the four.
But it seems like the best case scenario for the Bulls to go out and get one of the dwindling options among power forwards in free agency before Training Camp and the preseason arrive.
Here’s a look into three of the best remaining free agents for the Bulls to fill the need at the four heading into next season.
