Late in the night of Aug. 15, the Chicago Bulls will end the announced portion of the Las Vegas NBA Summer League slate against the Memphis Grizzlies. This is the fourth straight Western Conference foe for the Bulls in the Summer League in four games. The Bulls might get to face an Eastern Conference foe when the playoff round of the Summer League arrives next week.
For now, though, the Bulls are hoping to right the ship before it’s too late in Las Vegas. Following a convincing loss on the afternoon of Aug. 12 at the hands of the still undefeated Minnesota Timberwolves, the Bulls now own a record of 1-2. The team could at least move back to .500 with a shot at a win over the Grizzlies to round out the weekend.
Potential remains among some of the Chicago Bulls Summer League roster to challenge for spots in camp
The lone win thus far in Summer League for the Bulls came over the San Antonio Spurs, in a massive 22-point comeback that was sparked by a 30 point and 18 rebounds double-double from second-year forward Patrick Williams. And the other loss came against the New Orleans Pelicans in a 94-77 defeat in the opener back on Aug. 9.
Moreover, most of the starting unit for the Bulls in Summer League are players that are sure to be on the roster heading into next season. But the rest of the roster is made up of players vying for a potential spot with the Bulls in Training Camp and the preseason.
That will be the best route for most of these Summer League players to make a 15-man roster, or at least get a two-way contract, next season. With that in mind, here’s a look into three of the Bulls Summer League players that are threats to make the roster heading into next season.
