Departing players Chicago Bulls fans should be sad to see go: Tomas Satoransky
There was a lot that the former Washington Wizards combo guard Tomas Satoransky contributed for the Bulls in the past two seasons. Amid some rumors that he could be traded at different points over the course of the last two seasons, Sato performed admirably in a multitude of different roles under two different coaching regimes.
Sato was one of the three free agent signings for the Bulls in the final year under the previous front office regime of John Paxson and Gar Forman. The sign-and-trade deal that brought Sato to the Bulls was lauded at the time, and he definitely did a lot of things that this team needed.
Sato was a steadier presence really at both guard spots than the Bulls had out of someone comparable in the two prior seasons to when he was brought in during the 2019 offseason.
Karnisovas and the Bulls dealt out Sato with one year remaining on his current contract in that same deal that shipped off Temple to the Pelicans. In order for the Bulls to have the cap room to bring Lonzo into the fold, they had to deal out players with a combined salary to match with the likes of Sato and Temple.
Sato was better last season with the Bulls than he was in his inaugural campaign in Chicago. He averaged 7.7 points per game, 2.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks. And Sato shot 51.4 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.8 percent from the free-throw line.
We now get to root for Sato as he tries to move that Pelicans franchise forward alongside the star forward duo of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram.
