Players in Bulls rumors to avoid this summer: Dennis Schroder
A name that keeps getting thrown around for the Bulls among potential point guard targets is the Los Angeles Lakers 27-year-old 6-foot-3 and 175-pound Dennis Schroder. The Lakers are looking for another point guard for a reason this summer, and the Bulls should likely avoid giving Schroder a big in the near future.
There wasn’t much that Schroder did for the Lakers last season that inspires confidence that he could be the right point guard of the future for the Bulls. And considering that there are other solid options out there for Karnisovas and the Bulls to fill the need at the point guard position, Schroder should be pretty far down the list on the big board at the moment.
Especially if Schroder is going to get more than $15 million for the average annual value on his next contract, then this should be something the Bulls are willing to touch with a 10-foot pole. There’s a chance that Schroder’s next contract could creep pretty close to what the likes of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball and Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie gets this summer.
Both Lonzo and Dinwiddie should be much bigger point guard targets for the Bulls this summer than Schroder. It’s hard to see how the Bulls could improve the starting five too by signing Schroder. Most Bulls fans would argue that running with former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White at the one would be a better option than Schroder.
