Bucks free agents the Chicago Bulls could target: P.J. Tucker

A more intriguing potential free agent target for the Bulls among Bucks’ players is the veteran 36-year-old forward P.J. Tucker. Just finishing up his 10th year in the NBA, Tucker beat the odds to get where he is now. The former Texas Longhorn was an undrafted free agent signing and spent most of his career to date with the Houston Rockets.

But this will definitely be one of the high points of Tucker’s career. This was his first career title. Although he got close to the NBA Finals a few times playing alongside superstar guard James Harden with the Rockets throughout the 2010s, Tucker was finally able to get over the hump this year.

Knowing that he’s coming off a high note, it might be worth Karnisovas and the Bulls treading carefully if they want to pursue Tucker in free agency this summer.

There is definitely still a good amount of value that a player like Tucker could bring to the table for the Bulls, though. Head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls could use some help in adding wing depth and could use a boost on defense. Tucker would help provide both, whilst giving the Bulls yet another veteran voice in the locker room.

Maybe the biggest reason why the Bulls wouldn’t want to sign Tucker is the fact that they have another veteran forward in this lineup, with Thaddeus Young. The rotation at that spot could get a bit clogged up.

Nonetheless, Tucker is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. There is likely to be a chance that the Bucks want to run it back with him for at least another year. He certainly filled a valuable role for the Bucks alongside the likes of Giannis and star shooting guard/small forward Khris Middleton in the season that was.
